Frequently asked questions

You are sure to have many questions when selecting appropriate windows, front doors and accessories for your apartment or house. We answer the most frequent ones below.

WHAT FACTORS SHOULD I TAKE INTO ACCOUNT IN SELECTING WINDOWS?

You should definitely take the location in which your windows are going to be installed into account. Is it cold, humid or hot here? Or is the weather very changeable? This will give you a good idea of the properties your new windows require. We also have solutions for those selecting windows for a listed building in historical area (where certain rules have to be followed).

Another factor is the aesthetic perspective – naturally this will depend on your own tastes, however you should probably choose wooden windows for rustic wooden buildings, while wood-aluminium windows will go better in modern functionalist buildings.

CAN I ORDER WINDOWS WITHOUT INSTALLATION? WHY IS EXPERT INSTALLATION BETTER?

At TTK, window installation is a standard part of the delivery.

Expert installation is fundamental for your windows to work properly – it influences not just their lifetime, but also thermal transmission and other insulating properties.

CAN WINDOWS BE REPLACED IN WINTER?

If temperatures remain above -10 °C, then it is not a problem. Most materials, sealant foams, etc., we use are designed to be used even at low temperatures.

should i choose double glazing or triple glazing?

Double glazing is generally used when renovating older non-insulated buildings, while triple glazing is better for new-build, low energy and passive homes thanks to its insulating properties.

What is insulating glass used for?

Soundproof glass is mainly used in renovating older non-insulated buildings. For conservatories, it is a good idea to choose glass with anti sun insulation (so it is not too hot in summer and remains pleasantly warm in winter). On request, however, we are also able to supply glass with other special parameters (e.g. security glass, heat mirror glass, fire glass).

Do wooden and wood-aluminium windows require any kind of regular maintenance? how often?

Yes. If you want your windows to last as long as possible, you need to take regular care of them – i.e. adjust them so they work well, lubricate them and repair minor coat damage, etc. Before winter, it is also a good idea to perform preventive care of the sealant coat using special products.
